Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal on Saturday, January 28, held out a hand to vanquished Fatah movement of President Mahmoud Abbas (Abu
Mazen) for a national partnership serving the welfare of the Palestinian people, asserting that resistance in no way contradicts the political game.
"Our top priority now is consulting with Fatah and Abu Mazen who helped render the Palestinian legislative elections a success to reach
a national partnership," ... " we need each other to serve our people and cause and not to achieve personal gains." Meshaal told a press
conference in the Syrian capital Damascus, two days after his group swept the polls.
Meshaal asserted that the electoral victory came as no surprise to his group, attributing it to "good organization and planning."
Hamas swept the parliamentary elections, winning 76 seats in the 133-seat Palestinian Legislative Council, nearly 57.6 percent of the
seats up for grabs.

If you ever wondered how the Greeks could have dreamed up their mythical
Harpies, the evil half woman half bird creatures, read the story below ...
it's about 8 young Israeli settler women who vent their racist? hate against peaceful Palestinians harvesting olives ...
4 young Israeli women were indicted for attacking Palestinian olive harvesters in the village of
Sinjil, north of Ramallah.
According to the indictment, the 4, who were with another 4 young women that the Palestinian
complainant could not identify, "began to shove the farmers, hit them with sticks and threw stones at them."
An Israeli soldier on duty protecting the Palestinian olive harvesters, tried to intervene, at which point
"the accused Israeli women attacked the Israeli soldier and beat him with their fists."
The women are also accused of pulling the headscarves off the Palestinian women harvesters,
punching one in the face, and taking a walking stick away from an elderly harvester and pushing him.
(Haaretz)
As well as "fortress settlement paranoia" perhaps the observations of Chaim Nardi shed some light on the Israeli settler women's unacceptable behaviour:
Chaim Nardi, a sociologist at Tel Aviv University, links sex-slave trafficking in Israel to machismo attitudes in Israeli society, which he said "allow men to consider women their toy."
"WAR REPRESENTS A TOTAL FAILURE OF THE HUMAN SPIRIT"
American television continues to present war as a bloodless sandpit in which the horrors of conflict — the mutilated bodies of the victims of aerial bombing, torn apart in the desert by wild dogs — are kept off the
screen. Editors in New York and London make sure that viewers' "sensitivities" don't suffer, that we don't
indulge in the "pornography" of death (which is exactly what war is) or "dishonor" the dead whom we have
just killed.
Don't let us mince our words or change their descriptions or run mealy-mouthed from the truth because viewers, listeners or readers don't want to know or prefer a different version from reality.
Let's call a colony a colony, let's call occupation what it is, let's call a wall a wall. And maybe express the
reality of war by showing that it represents not, primarily, victory or defeat, but the total failure of the human
spirit. (adapted from Robert Fisk)
Arik Sharon's much-ballyhooed withdrawal from Gaza left 1.4 million Palestinians in what is
essentially the world's largest prison, condemned to whiling away their lives in a series of disconnected
Bantustans, ghettos and reservations entirely at the mercy of Israel.
That's not peace! As Crazy Horse or Sitting Bull would have recognized at a glance, it's an attempt to
pacify an entire people by bludgeoning them into subhuman irrelevance. Nothing short of genocide
-- for which Sharon's formula was merely a kind of substitute -- would persuade the Palestinian people to
quietly accept such an arrangement ...

Whether you love Arik Sharon or hate him, the incompetency of the doctor that sent him home on a blood thinning drug is not in doubt!!!
It was tantamount to turning a person with weak blood vessels in his brain with the potential to rupture under high blood pressure into a haemopheliac!!!
Perhaps some doctors are playing at being God? It's interesting to note that Arik seems to have got no better result from his medical care than Yasser Arafat ...
The Jews in Israel will tell you they have greened the desert and turned a
land that was being neglected by the Palestinians into a bountiful food bowl ... That is total hogwash!
Palestine was already a bountiful country under the stewardship of Palestinian farmers whereas the Jews
even have trouble making ends meet with donations of up to $3,000,000,000 a year from US taxpayers ...

Israeli occupation soldiers shot and killed a three-year-old girl inside her home in central Gaza,
eyewitnesses and medical sources said.
Rahma Ibrahim Abu Shamas was reportedly inside her home in Dair al-Balah in central Gaza on
Wednesday when a bullet struck her in the head, killing her instantly.
Palestinian sources said Israeli soldiers manning an army watchtower at the nearby colony of Kfar
Darom opened machinegun fire randomly on Palestinian homes around dawn on Wednesday.
An Israeli army spokesman acknowledged the killings, saying soldiers thought that Palestinian
resistance activists were present in the neighbourhood and the army was looking into the "incident".
However, the Israeli-state run radio, Cal Yisrael, said no Palestinians fighters were present in the area
when the shooting took place.
PA security officials in the Gaza Strip condemned the killing, calling it "another hideous crime".
(Khalid Amayreh in the West Bank Wednesday 26 January 2005 4:41 PM GMT) The Israeli army and paramilitary Jewish Talmudic settlers have killed more than 650 Palestinian
children and minors since the outbreak of al-Aqsa intifada against the Israeli occupation ... (Click photo for detail) "Imagine how Israel would react if a Jewish child was killed and yet they are killing our children in cold
blood," Abu Muammar, a Palestinian security official in Dair al-Balah, said.
The Israeli army routinely denies its soldiers target Palestinian children.

In Memory of Iman Al-Hams, shot dead in cold blood at point blank range by an Israeli Defense Force commander ...
One soldier told the Israeli Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper : "The company commander approached her, shot two bullets into her, walked back towards the force, turned back to her, switched his weapon to automatic and emptied his entire magazine into her. We were in shock. We couldn't believe what he was doing. Our hearts ached for her. Just a girl of 13."
Other soldiers said if the commander was not dismissed they would refuse to serve under him.
"It is a disgrace that he is still in his position. We want him kicked out."

Israeli Commander Cleared of Cold-Blooded Killing of Palestinian Girl??? The Israeli army captain "R" accused of riddling Iman Al-Hams body with bullets after he had already shot her twice was cleared by the Israeli Southern Command Military Court of any wrong doing. (Tuesday, November 15, 2005)
"At that point, Captain R, Givati company commander at the Girit outpost close to Rafah on October 5 2004, took the unusual decision to leave the post in pursuit of the girl. He shot her dead and then “confirmed the kill” by emptying his magazine into her body." (The charges against Captain R were dropped when ONE of the soldiers under his command withdrew his testimony ...)
"Although the soldiers who identified the child repeatedly told the captain not to shoot, he chose to do so anyway and then walked away and back again to the child's body for a verification killing. In covering for his captain R, Brigadier General Shmuel Zakai, former commander of the Golani Brigade and considered to be an outstanding man in service to his country, not only perpetuated a lie about the willful destruction of a child's body, but in doing so he put the word of his commanding officer and Commander in Chief General Moshe Ya' alon, in disrespect and jeopardy. General Ya'alon, basing his report upon the word and honor of the commanding officer in charge reported to Knesset that Iman had probably been sent to draw out soldiers for terrorists and that he was satisfied with his officier's report. According to her mother and the reporting soldiers watching her progress, she was on her way to school , got caught in gunfire , panicked and ran in the wrong direction."

"We must rapidly begin the shift from a thing-oriented society to a person-oriented society. When machines and computers, profit motives and property rights, are considered more important than people, the giant triplet of racism, extreme materialism, and militarism is incapable of being conquered."

Sixteen-year-old Farris Hassan from Fort Lauderdale in Florida did not tell his parents when he used his
savings to buy a ticket to Iraq, arriving in Baghdad on Christmas Day.
Although he does not speak Arabic he says he wanted to write about Iraq first-hand as part of an
"immersion journalism" project.
The guy is brilliant, such spirit, what incredible initiative!!! Well done Farris, if you want Dr Hesham Tillawi to interview you
about your exploit and what lead you to achieve it, please contact him tillawi@currentissues.tv .
After his second night in Baghdad Farris contacted the Associated Press (Bad move Farris!) saying he had come to Iraq to do research and humanitarian work. A staff member of the Associated Press called the U.S. Embassy, which sent U.S. soldiers to pick him up ... (Predictable!)
Farris should have been fêted as a hero, and been given an escort/translator to show him around Iraq ...
Consul-General Richard Hermann says he is pleased the boy (young man)has been safely flown home to his parents (Wasting all the planning, initiative
and money it took Farris to get to Baghdad in Iraq).
"The State Department and the embassy strongly warn US citizens against travel to Iraq, which remains
very dangerous," Richard Hermann said. (Perhaps it is more dangerous for the US government to have young
inquiring US minds speaking to average Iraqi citizens)
Farris was not wasting his money and life on drugs and alcohol, his mother Shatha Atiya should be proud of him.
Shatha Atiya said: "He is very driven and he is very patriotic. He believes in democracy ... He is a member of a Republican Party club at school, and has conservative opinions ..."
Officials at the private Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale, where Farris is a junior honors student, threatened to expel him when they heard about his trip ...
Just shows how out of touch with reality those officials are ...

!!!Asmaa Mohamed Ali beaten by Government thugs?!!!
"I was taken blindfolded by people in civilian clothes near a polling station in northern Cairo to an unknown place where I was insulted and beaten by two female thugs till I lost consciousness," an Egyptian journalist said, her voice breaking.
(Asmaa Mohamed Ali works for Cairo's new Al-Karama (Dignity) newspaper) Thugs hired by the ruling National Democratic Party (NDP) and police have intimidated judges and voters alike in the run-offs of the second phase of Egypt's parliamentary election, which took place on Saturday, November 26, forcing the judiciary to cancel voting in some constituencies.
Some 137 Egyptian judges have supported a written testimony of a fellow judge accusing authorities of "flagrant falsification" of election results, in favor of the NDP.
The third and last round of Egypt's legislative elections turned bloody Thursday, December 1, after security forces killed 1 citizen wounded more than 70 others and blocked thousands of voters from casting their ballot, prompting judges supervising the process to threaten a walk-out.
Judge Abdel Wahid Mohiddin, who monitored voting in the northeastern city of Al-Sharqiya, said he and other voting staffers were locked inside a school used as a polling station.
“Police banned voters from entering the polling station, and fired tear gas cannisters to disperse an angry crowd and deter the judges when they tried to protest the flagrant police interference.
“A meager 90 voters out of a total of 30,000 had cast their ballots in consequence,” he added.
Deputy Attorney General Ahmed Abdel Khaleq had his arm broken when policemen assaulted and kicked him for insisting on being present during vote counting.
Hazem Salah, a court chief, said police only allowed in people carrying NDP IDs, prompting other voters to climb the back walls of the polling station.
The New York-based Human Rights Watch lambasted the US administration's favorable comments on the Egyptian elections, saying the remarks were "utterly disconnected from the reality of what is happening in Egypt today."
The United States Constitution was drawn up to prevent such barbaric acts being perpetrated on US citizens by their government ... It is just as relevant "In times like these" as when it was written ...

It has writing on it that has great meaning to us and probably most of the 42 Presidents of the USA that

Oh and by the way, if you think the document that certifies you hold the office of President of the USA is "just a goddamned piece of paper"
does that invalidate your presidency Mr Bush ? ...

1 - At all times restricts the actions and rights of others, especially those holding the sociopath accountable, [Patriot Act?]
2 - whilst aggressively protecting his or her right to do anything without being hampered by social norms or legal requirements [“It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!”?]

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg lashed out at union leaders for "thuggishly" turning their
backs on the city ... "You can't break the law and use that as a negotiating tactic," he said at an afternoon
news conference. "This is unconscionable," ...
Mr Bloomberg, whereas you personally won't suffer one bit from the strike it seems you are prepared to

British Foreign Office and the company connected to the video, Aegis Defense Services, have launched investigations into the video.

Israel finally left the Gaza Strip in mid-September but since then has kept the gates shut to the territory, which has no seaport and a mothballed international airport that was bombarded by Israeli war planes four years ago.
Efforts to negotiate an agreement with Israel for a reopening foundered until the personal intervention of US Secretary of State CONDOLLEEZA RICE, who managed to secure a deal during a visit to the region on November 15.
CONDOLEEZZA DEAL GOES BAD ... Last week, Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz decided that the bus convoys between Gaza and the West
Bank, which were scheduled to start December 15, were not going to be initiated. Although the U.S. “urged”
Israel to make the deal go through, as promised to U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Mofaz chose
to revert back to unilateralist policy due to “security concerns.”

ALL ABOUT "MARKET SHARING" NOT "SHARING"?
Thousands of ‘pilot projects’ have been seeded all over the developing world during
the past few years to find out if information and communications technologies (ICTs)
can foster development. Among these are attempts to put computers in
underprivileged schools, provide internet access to the poor, or bring ‘community
radio’ to villages.
Two years ago, as part of a nine-country Asia Pacific study on how ICTs are
influencing human development, I was desperately looking for examples of any
communications technology that has directly benefited the poor. The market-driven
mobile phone phenomenon stood out amidst many donor-driven ‘pilot’ projects that
had either collapsed or never delivered the promise.
The development community, ever anxious to coin more jargon and acronyms, now
has a collective name for these efforts: ICT4D (ICT for development).
I see ICT4D as ‘picture postcard opportunities’ for roving development workers.

Crew and Banana Republic, should post sales of about $900 per square foot by the end of this year, according to officials at the Port Authority, making it one of the country’s highest-earning shopping centers.
The agreement represents a special opportunity for Westfield. Port Authority officials estimate that about 200,000 people pass through the mall every day, including the estimated 40,000 who work in the area.
"It’s an amazing amount of people, more than any mall we’ve ever owned," Lowy told SCT. "The key is to have the retailing there that can catch the eye of the commuter and entice them into the store. We will do the job that it demands."
Westfield officials propose adding between 150,000 and 250,000 square feet of retail space to the concourse mall, plus a new entryway, Lowy said.
"Knowing New York City, that might start sometime in the next five years," he quipped.
Silverstein Properties and Westfield America had originally submitted a second-place bid for the World Trade Center lease, trailing Vornado Realty Trust of Paramus, N.J. But negotiations between Vornado Chairman Steven Roth and the Port Authority broke off in March.
During the course of final negotiations, the lease was split into two contracts, with Silverstein agreeing to make lease payments on the office portion, and Westfield responsible for payments on the retail portion, according to Catharine Dickey, vice president of corporate communications for Westfield. Both Dickey and Lowy declined to comment on the amount of Westfield’s annual lease payments.
However, Lowy noted that after an up-front closing cost of $130 million, the current net value of the 99-year lease was $290 million."

E = m c2
In a few simple lines you can show that E = mc2 the most celebrated equation of all time. Since the speed of light(c) is an incredibly large number, and its square(c x c) is even larger, this means that even a tiny amount of matter(m) can release a fantastic amount of energy(E). A few teaspoons of matter, for example, has the energy of several hydrogen bombs!!!
"According to the Egyptian police, the explosives used in the attacks on Ras Shitan and on the other resort were entirely different from the material that was used to bomb the Hilton ..."
"This material is highly explosive, has a huge destructive effect, and is very uncommon in Egypt..." There is only one explosive that is "very uncommon" in Egypt ... probably the same explosive that was used in Bali, Jakarta and Beirut ... the fact that no one admitted detecting any radiation and the explosive device was probably small portable and easily concealed would seem to exclude Syria from any blame for the death of Hariri ...
Before Hariri, the last person to be killed in a massive "car bomb?" explosion in Beirut was
BeiruElie Hobeika ...
"The blast was so strong that parts of Hobeika’s body flew 150 feet down the road while one of his bodyguards was blown onto a second floor balcony. Buildings nearby caught fire." BeiruElie Hobeika the Lebanese warlord who led the 1982 massacre of Palestinian civilians during Israel’s occupation of Beirut had agreed to come forward as a key witness for the war crimes trial of Ariel Sharon but was "blown to bits" before he could disclose promised revelations about the case ...
Palestinian survivors of the massacre were trying to prosecute Ariel Sharon for “crimes against humanity” in Belgian courts, in which foreigners can be tried for human rights violations committed anywhere in the world ...
Chibli Mallat, lawyer for the survivors, said that Hobeika’s killing was an attempt to undermine the case ...
Lebanon’s president, Emile Lahoud, indirectly accused Israel by saying that Hobeika was assassinated by those who did not want him to testify in Belgium. “Why now, after 20 years, does this happen to this person?” he asked
Hariri's death is being used as a weapon against the regime of President Bashar al-Assad of Syria by Israel ...
Israel is the country who stands to gain by the death of Hariri.
Syria has now been cast as an evil country ripe for regime change by Israel and the USA.
The regime in Syria has enough political savvy to know that assassinating Hariri would be counter productive.
A US investigating committee found that WTC7 collapsed due to fires in the building,
so the credibility of any "investigation" instigated by the current "regime" in the USA is shot ... perhaps the USA and Israel are the countries that are ripe for "regime change"?
Bombs in vehicles do NOT dig holes in the ground, as demonstrated by these 1000lb ammonium nitrate / fuel oil (ANFO) bombs exploding in the back of two trucks ...
PALESTINIAN SUFFERING UNDER ZIONIST RULE On every side of the sanctuary they shed innocent blood;
they even defiled the sanctuary.
Because of them the residents of Al-Quds fled;
she became a dwelling of strangers;
she became strange to her offspring,
and her children forsook her.
Her sanctuary became desolate like a desert;
her feasts were turned into mourning,
her sabbaths into a reproach,
her honor into contempt.
Her dishonor now grew as great as her glory;
her exaltation was turned into mourning.
The Palestinians are today's Maccabees Mr Bush ...
Menorah Lighting Ceremony in White House 6 Dec 2005
"The Judaization policy of Israel in Al-Quds (Jerusalem) will fail. There is now an irreversible trend in the occupied lands, as demonstrated by the intifidah. The intifidah also symbolizes Muslim - Christian unity, a clear indication of the need for a common struggle if the religious, historical and civilization significance of Al-Quds is to be preserved. Both Christian and Muslim states must intensify their support for the Palestinians in their struggle against oppression and usurpation of their land."
If any of the kids in this photo who would now be between 30 and 35 years old survived and recognise Dr Ang Swee Chai who took their photo
in Lebanon in 1982 please contact us and we will pass the message to Dr Ang Swee Chai ...
Dr Ang Swee Chai: "And suddenly a whole lot of children - Palestinian children from every where began to crowd around me, and the little girl said "Doctor can you take a picture of us?" I said "of course I will". "You must take a picture of us now because there is the Shatila camp - tomorrow maybe the camp will be destroyed and there will be no more Shatila, but al least today we are here and you can take a picture and show your friends all over the world this refugee camp and show them we are the children of Shatila". And as I began to focus the camera they decided to put their hands up and make a victory sign and said "and we are not afraid". This picture was taken in October 1982, since then I have been back to Lebanon many times, and each time I go back I carry a copy of these pictures hoping I can find them - of course I never found any of these children. But now looking back I realise they didn't ask me bring the pictures back to them - they said take the pictures and show it to the whole world, to show the whole world how the Palestinian children of Shatila camp were not afraid. So I am showing it to you now."
PRESIDENT RICE?
Questioned about which female candidate she would like to see replace her husband in the Oval Office, the
First Lady replied:
"Well, of course, a Republican woman, like maybe Dr Rice" ...
"I'd love to see her run. She's terrific"
BERLIN, January 4, 2006 – Deutsche Bank, Germany's biggest bank, is planning to expand in producing services and products aimed at Muslim clients.
"There is enormous potential for growth since the demand in this area far outstrips the supply," Hans-Juergen Koch, the director of the Swiss branch of the bank, told the daily Boersen Zeitung Tuesday, January 3.
Koch said the services should conform with Islamic law, or Shari`ah, adding that Deutsche Bank had charged its Swiss branch with developing services for Islamic clients as Geneva was, along with London, the main financial market for Muslims in Europe, reported Agence France-Presse ... more
